A Typical Tuesday….

7: 30 – Get ready for my day for Centra cam. McHale helps me brush my teeth.

8:30 – I get on the Handi – van to go to Centra cam

9:30 to 10 :30 – I do printing and work in my spelling book

10:30- Coffee break and we sit in the lunch room and the others have something in lunch kit!

10:45 to 12:30 is second block! I get to go into my walker and walk around the hallways! Then I get to do something fun like play a game. I have my lunch at 12:00 and the others have their lunch at 12:30 to 1:00 pm

1:00 to 2:15 I do math on the iPad! I play a game ( Yahtzee) at 2 until 2:15

2:15 to 2:35 is coffee break

2:35 to 3:40 I do some poster work for our learning board so I colored some horses pictures! I have a project that I’m working on I’m making present for my grade one teacher! It will be for her birthday! I have finished painting the canvas. I’m do a painting of a laptop and a picture of me and her on the screen, because we email each other and I am putting presents around us because she sends me presents for every holiday! On the back of the canvas there will be a note about our friendship!

4:00 – I get home at 4:00

5:30 I eat and after supper I go shower

I PVR Sister Wives so catch up as I go to see my mom and dad when it is on it’s on Sunday’s! Then I cheek on my Face Book to see what is happening and I cheek if I have emails or not! I pick out my clothes and go to bed about 9:30 every night! I like to listen to my cd until I fall asleep!

Wednesday

7:30 I got up and got ready for my day for Centra cam

8:30 I went on the Handi- van and got to Centra cam around 9:00 am

9:30 to 10:30 I went on the NUSTEP it’s a bike that counts your steps and work load goes up to 5! I use five and I have a knee brace on my knee so my knee stays where it should be without hitting my other leg!

10:30 to 10:45 is coffee break and everyone have a snack from their lunch kit!

10:45 to 12:30 is Movement class and Singing class we danced to the chicken dance

I have my lunch at 12:00

On Wednesday at 12:30:1:00 we have a hot lunch and today I got Cheesecake!

1:00 to 2:15 I did speech in my book and played cards!

2:15 to 2:35 is coffee break

2:35 to 3:45 I did some math work and I painted mother of pearl on my blue canvas

3:00 I had my snack

4:30 to 5:30 I went bowling

6:00 I had supper and went on Facebook for a while

7:00 to 7:30 I had a shower and got ready for bed

8:00 to 9:15 I watched CMT

9:15 to 9:30 went on Facebook and got my clothes ready for the next day

9:30 Put my cd on and went to bed

A Typical Monday…

Monday

7:30 – Time to Get Up! I get ready for my day….This is my staff McHale, she helps me do my hair.

8:30 Monday through Thursday I go to Centra Cam for the day. I either take my wheelchair lift downstairs or the ramp outside my house. I ride the Handi-van to Centra cam.

9:30 – When I get to Centra Cam I do some printing & played cards!

10:30- Coffee Break

10:45 – I played a dice game and did a math game on the iPad

12:00 – Lunch Time for me, everyone else has their lunch from 12:30-1:00

I do write ups for Centra Cam’s Newsletter

Then I got my nails done

3:00 – Snack time, I get a feed

3:45 – The Handi-Van picks me up and takes me home

4:15-4:45 I go swimming at the pool

5:30 Supper Time!

I get ready for bed early so I can watch Jill & Jessa at 7:00-8:00 on TLC!

8:00 – I go on my iPad to catch up on Facebook and emails at the end of my day and I pick out my clothes for the next day.

9:30 – Bed Time! I go to bed at 9:30 every night or sooner it depends if I’m sleepy or not. I like to listen to my CD before I fall asleep! I need to go to sleep so I can get up at 7:30 for my next day.

Bowling Tournament

This Saturday 4th of February 2017 I got to go a out of town for Special Olympics in Leduc!

We played three games of bowling and my highest average before the tournament was 99 but at the tournament I got 129 then 120 then 129 again so my best average.

We went out to a camp site for supper and awards! I got a second place ribbon, water bottle and some pins!

We had a LONG KARAOKE TIME and our table played UNO before supper!

Supper was at 6:30 to 7:30ish! They did the tables by towns to go up to get your food!

After supper they did awards! We left before they started the dance though!

A little bit about me!

I love bright colors red,yellow, greens , blues etc! My family is from Swift Current, Unity, Lloydminster and Ontario! I have 3 Aunties, 5 Uncles and 8 cousins. ! My Uncles Dale and Gerald work on the farm that my mom grew up! My grandparents are in Lloydminster and Ontario so I don’t see them often!

My brothers are Luke and Joel. Joel is 24 and Luke is 18! Joel is going to school at the U of A in Edmonton, Alberta! My brother Luke graduated from Camrose Composite high school in 2016! He is hoping to go to school in fall 2017 for art studies! He is working at the theater in Camrose!

My school years were pretty good for the most part! I went to Chester Ronning , Charlie Killam and Camrose Composite High School! I had a few aides that helped me though the years of school and Kandu summer camp!! In grades 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 I had the same aide so I learned the same way and did my work same way! I used a computer called vantage to do my writing in English , social studies and science!

For my school works sheets my aide would send my work so I could just use my vantage to write as this was easier and faster for me! The vantage cloud talk for me and could be hooked up to the computer! That way I did my school work!

I couldn’t go outside and play with the other kids so I went to see my grade one teacher and we would visit! We still keep in touch by emails and she sends me cards and gifts for all holidays and birthdays! She came to my 8th and 10th birthday parties! I live life like everyone else! I like to party so we have 3 parties and 3 cakes for my birthdays! My mom’s friend Rebecca makes cakes so I had a doll cake for my 8th birthday! We would have my parties at her shop on my 17th and 18th! For my teen birthday parties we would go bowling and my birthday parties in grade school we would have outdoor games like pin the earring on the doll! We would have indoor games too! My cakes were brownies cakes, ice cream and blueberries cheesecake! One cake fell on the floor so we had ice cream cake!

I live life like my brothers so that’s why I didn’t let my CP get in the way!

My name is Kelsey and I’m 21 years old and live in Camrose, Alberta. I go to schools and give presentations to grade 5 students on body image. I have cerebral palsy and my presentation talks about my life and body image. This blog will help people understand me. I want people to know that everyone can have a job even though you might have a disability. My job speaking to students is very rewarding. I hope my presentation helps kids see themselves how they actually look and being ok with that image. “Everyone is different!” I am excited to start this journey.
